Týmto sa hlásim ako "účastník zájezdu".
Určite by som si ešte raz chcel prejsť tankové múzeum v Saumure, zvyšok ponechávam na vedúceho zájazdu a chute ostatných súdruhov.
Dúfam, že sa prihlásia aj parťáci Dolin a Zbycho, bez nich by mi tam bolo smutno.

Dakotas’ to fill Normandy skies once again
For the first time since June 6th 1944 formations
of C-47 aircraft will once again fill the
Normandy skies and drop paratroopers onto
those historical military drop zones between
3rd and 8th June 2014. ‘Dakotas Over Normandy’
is an ambitious initiative currently being
organized by the ‘Round Canopy Parachute
Team’ (RCPT) to assemble as many flying
Douglas C-47/DC3 Dakotas from all around
the world in Normandy skies once again - an
awesome spectacle that will never be forgotten.
The Round Canopy Parachute Team is an
international parachute association which
specializes in military parachute jumps from
restored wartime C-47 ‘Dakotas’ onto historical
World WarII dropzones in wartime battle
uniform and in the exact manner and discipline
that wartime paratroopers jumped into battle.
The team has 250 members from 14 different
nationalities. The highly trained parachutists
even use round canopy parachutes almost
identical to those used during the WW2.
About 15 restored C-47/DC3 Dakotas are
currently flying in Europe and it is hoped to
get as many of these as possible to take part in
‘Dakotas Over Normandy’ in addition to other
Dakota aircraft from around the world.
This never to be repeated event will start
on the 3rd June at Daedalus Airport, Lee-on-
Solent in Hampshire where a fleet of Dakota’s
and over 100 paratroops, dressed in WWII
uniforms will assemble. On that day too a
memorial service will be held and an historic
fly-by will take place.
On the morning of 4th June, the formation,
escorted by a number of WWII fighters, will
take off to cross the English Channel and drop
the paratroopers onto one of the historic drop
zones in Normandy. From the 4th to the 8th
June all aircraft will be based at Cherbourg
Maupertus airport in Normandy where the
public will get a chance, not just to see up close
these wonderful old aircraft at close quarters,
but to fly in them too.
