Zámeček - Ernestinum
adresa: Tyršova 106, Příbram I
tel.: 318 628 606

Expozici Muzea třetího odboje naleznete též v Klášteře Teplá u Mariánských Lázní – s tématikou zaměřenou na perzekuci církví, kněží, řeholníků a řeholnic.

The museum is to document the history of anti-communist resistance and its effects during 1948-1989 period.

What is the reason we use „Third Resistance“ name?
After the „First Resistance“ against Austro-Hungarian Monarchy during 1914-1918 period and after the „Second Resistance“ against Nazi occupation during 1939-1945 period there was a „Third Resistance“ movement against the usurpation of power by Communist Party in February 1948.
For participation on such activities 250 000 persons were sentenced to long imprisonment, 241 political prisoners were put to death and till 1989 more than 8 000 men and women died in prisons and concentration camps owing to suffering and torture during their imprisonment.
80 000 more men and women were kept in forced labour camps without any trial or sentence on the basis of Law 247/48 and men were forced to serve with PTP forced labour units under military organisation and command.

The exhibition „Political prisoners in uranium mines 1948-1968“ provides more than 400 documents as the evidence on communist regime crimes. There are aerial photographs of concentration camps in the vicinity of Jáchymov, Slavkov and Příbram taken during 1952-1953. In this exhibition there is enlarged photo of Vykmanov camp where 81 priests were jailed during 1954-1956.

There are two more exhibitions in the museum – „Women in the Third Resistance and behind bars of prisons 1948-1968“ and „From Czech lands to Siberian gulag“ documenting the imprisonment of Russian immigrants of Czechoslovak citizenship in USSR during 1944-1960The museum has got detached exhibition „Concentration camps aatached to uranium mines in the vicinity of Jáchymov during 1949-1961 period“ located in the building of the Royal Mint in Jáchymov.

You can find more museum exhibitions in the Monastery Teplá u Mariánských Lázní. These exhibitions are documenting the persecution of churches, priests, friars and nuns. More original documents on such tearful period of our history have been made accessible to public being parts of all these permannent exhibitions.

Historic events of fourty years of communist dictatorship must not be suppressed, denied or concealed. Not to learn from it could cause a lot of pain in the future.

Museum exhibitions open daily 10,00 – 16,00 except of Mondays.

Larger groups of visitors should be announced in advance.

Adresse: Tyršova 106, Příbram I
Telefonnummer: 318 628 606
